Did you know that you are able to print from your Halton Cloud using a chromebook, your own computer or sometimes even your phone? Well you can! All you need to do is add the library's Web printer to your cloud set up. Follow the steps below to get started. 1) Log in to your Halton Cloud 2) Pull up a document that you would like to print 3) Click Print 4) Under Destination, click Change 5) At the very bottom of the page a message will appear asking you to Accept or Reject a printer that has been shared with you. You need to Accept this printer to add it. This will appear a second time, Accept BOTH printers. 6) You should now have LBPLIBc-WEB listed under your printer options 7) You may get an additional message saying you can add printers. If this appears, click Not Now.
8) Try to remember to print two-sided whenever possible. Now you're all set! You should be able to print from your Halton Cloud from any device. If you have any trouble, or if you do not have the invitation you need to accept send an email to [email protected] or come and visit us in the library and we will get you set up. After reading through the White Pine novels for this year, LBP has selected it's winner! Based on our voters, we have selected Exit, Persued by a Bear by E.K. Johnston as our ultimate winner!
White Pine has officially launched! If you're interested in taking part, come and check out the books in the library (or read about them on our Forest of Reading page). We have two copies of each book at LBP, and many of the books are available in a digital format on Overdrive.
Keep track of which books you've read, and what you think about them, then join us on Wednesdays at lunch in the Library to discuss your thoughts with your peers. We will meet every Wednesday until voting in early April. If you've read at least 5 of the 10 titles, you can vote on which was your favourite. Students across Canada will be voting to crown the best book of White Pine 2017. Come grab a book today and join us on MARCH 1ST for your first meeting! As exams loom near, don't forget the library will be open to students for the full exam period. The library will be open from 8:15 to 4:15 as a quiet space to review for exams every day until February 1st.
Before you get lost in studying for exams though, take a break to pet some puppies and relieve some stress! The last Bark Break will be happening TODAY (Wednesday January 18th) in the library from 11:30 to 12:30. Come have a visit, and release some stress by petting some happy dogs. Did you miss the dogs? Have no fear! Burlington Public Library is also hosting a Puppy Room at 3 of their locations next week. Head to the library to study for exams and take a break to visit with some pups. You can "paws" from studying on the following days:
BPL is also having Exam Cram Study Hall from January 21 to February 1 at library branches if you need a quiet place to study after school. Drop by during library open hours for individual and group study spaces, treats, and WiFi access. Good luck on your exams Patriots! Starting in the new year, we will be launching the 2017 White Pine book club! . Keep an eye out in the library for the books to be ready to check out, or if you prefer e-books or audiobooks, visit Overdrive! Can't wait for them to be released? Visit the Forest of Reading page to check out the titles. Let us know which one you're most excited for below! New handouts and referencing sheets have been added to the resources section of the website. Click the link on the side bar to access MLA or APA cheat sheets, note taking sheets and sample papers that follow specific formats.
Is there something missing that you'd really like to see? Let Ms. McCarthy know! October is E-Wareness month and HDSB Library Services is running their annual E-Warness contest! Use the link on the image below to enter the contest. You can find all of the answers using the Gale databases or Overdrive.
Make sure your answers are correct before entering of you won't be eligible for a prize. Aren't sure on an answer? Come see Ms. McCarthy or Ms. Taylor in the library for some help. Good luck! Welcome to the library's new website!
It's a work in progress so be patient as we make the transfer from the old site. You can access all of the same links from the old site. You can find the HDSB Databases, Proquest, or search the library catalogue all from the left hand side. |
